The Cavs Have No Identity

We have no idea who the Cavs are, want to be or are going to be.

Do they want to be a great offensive team? Defensive team? I really can’t tell with the way that they’ve carried themselves 12 games into the season.

Thing is, they’re not great at either thing.

The Cavs are the 15th ranked team in the NBA when it comes to offensive rating (104.4 points per 100 possessions) and are 26th in the NBA in defensive rating (allowing 107 points per 100 possessions).

Cleveland has no identity right now. The 2010 Miami Heat did.

Even though they struggled out of the gate, that Heat team was superb on defense from the get-go. That’s what they hung their hat on since day one. Eric Spoelstra made that known from the opening practice of training camp.

I’m not sure David Blatt has done any of that with this Cavs team. Heck, he doesn’t even have a set rotation yet.

What exactly was he doing during preseason?
