  • I’m as much of a Hassan Whiteside fan as the next guy, if not more. However, I just feel like this whole Whiteside experience has been too good to be true. I think that will hold true in the second half of the season through a little think we call regression to the mean.

Even though, based of his averages, Whiteside is only averaging 7.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, during his last nine games he’s averaging 12.6 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.8 blocks.

I don’t believe that he’ll be able to maintain those latter averages over the course of the next 40, or so, games this season. Figure his last nine games to be the high point of his season and just an aberration of the player he truly is.

Bet him on being a seven point, seven rebound type of player for the rest of the regular season. Good, but not a generational big. Believe me, it pains me saying that as much as the next guy.
