Atlanta Hawks

Record: 41-9

First Half Highlight: 19 game winning streak

Analysis: Raise your hand if you predicted the Atlanta Hawks to be sitting one game out of having the best record in the NBA midway through the season. Now put your hand down, because you’re lying.

The Hawks, through the first half of the season, have been easily the best team in the Eastern Conference — and the second-best team in the NBA. You know, in the opinion of those who don’t belittle them for playing in the Eastern Conference. Although, the stats — along with their 40-plus win record — is undeniable at this point in the season.

Atlanta is top-10 on both defensive (6th, 100.0), offensive rating (5th, 107.4) and second in the NBA in assists per game. The Hawks share the basketball, play defense and don’t turn it over a ton (are 11th in the league in fewest TO’s).

Simply based on the fact that most had the Hawks winning 40-48 games this season, if healthy, they deserve one of the highest grades possible.
