Not really sure what the the Boston Celtics were thinking when they decided to make this move, but it kind of makes sense if they’ve decided to make a push for the playoffs. Although, with the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat making significant upgrades on deadline day, I’m not sure what real chance the Celtics are going to have down the stretch.
Nonetheless, going forward, Thomas could be the Celtics’ point guard of the future. Hopefully Thomas can find a home in Boston and really settle in as an NBA player. He’s been productive in nearly every season, efficient too, but after this past summer and getting traded at the deadline, I’m sure he’d love to have some sort of stability in Boston.
The Suns got another first-round pick. Not bad, I guess? At least they don’t have a clutter at the point guard position anymore.
Trade Winner: Boston. Despite this deal not making the most sense for the Celtics, Isaiah Thomas is a good enough player to surrender a first round pick for.
