The crème de la crème.

That’s exactly what the Western Conference has been this season in the NBA. For every disappointing and underwhelming feeling that the Eastern Conference has left us with this year, the Western Conference has done more than its fair share to make up for it.

Call it a gauntlet or a walking over hot coal — no matter how you put it, the matter of the fact is that getting through the Western Conference is not going to be easy, by any stretch of the imagination.

If you can get through your first round series, good. Now play the San Antonio Spurs, or the Los Angeles Clippers or the Golden State Warriors. Good luck.

Making out of the West is going to be an accomplishment in itself. The prize — having to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers or Atlanta Hawks (likely) in the NBA Finals.

On that note, let’s preview the Western Conference playoff teams.
