Alvin Gentry

Last Job: Assistant Coach, Golden State Warriors

If it wasn’t for the fact that the Golden State Warriors are still in the playoffs and that Thunder management was completely infatuated with Billy Donovan, Alvin Gentry might’ve been OKC’s top target to replace Scott Brooks.

He’s reportedly everyone else’s.

Had it not been for the Atlanta Hawks winning 60 games this season, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr would’ve won the NBA’s Coach of the Year award. With that said, a lot of the Warriors’ success this season — as said by many around the league — is a testament to the great assistant coaching staff that Kerr surrounded himself with this offseason.

Gentry happens to be a part of that staff. He was great as Doc Rivers‘ top assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers last season and he’s been nothing short of amazing this year with the Warriors. He’ll eventually get another job as a head coach in the NBA soon, probably next season.

Why not with the Pelicans?
