Picks: Myles Turner (Texas), Joseph Young (Oregon)

With Reports coming in that David West (via free agency) and Roy Hibbert (via trade) might end up leaving the Pacers, Indiana needed a big and additional talent on draft night. They ended up with both as they took the big man out of Texas, Myles Turner. Turner will likely start right away, he’s an elite shot blocker than can also score and stretch the floor. He could help shoulder the offensive load, while Paul George is trying to get back in rhythm after his broken leg.

The Pacers also got a gem in the 2nd round in Joseph Young, a guard which they’ve greatly needed.

"Bird told reporters  “The Pacers Front Office was surprised (Young) was there” at No. 43, even though his mid-second round pick was right in line with where a consensus of mock drafts projected Young’s draft stock. “We liked Joe all year,” Bird said."

Drafting two solid players at your weakest positions is never a bad idea, and for that the Pacers end up being winners on draft night.
