FA Targets: Greg Monroe, DeAndre Jordan, LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol

There’s nothing structurally wrong with the New York Knicks, with one exception. They simply don’t know how they want to rebuild. Although, they’re now forced to rebuild through free agency — mostly because they re-signed Carmelo Anthony, 31, last summer.

That kind of puts them in a bind. There’s no point in doing that signing last summer, if they were going to take the long rebuild path and do it through the draft. And that’s exactly what it felt like they were doing last week when they drafted Kristaps Porzingis in the NBA Draft.

It’s almost like they forgot they had Carmelo Anthony on the roster for a moment. Surprise surprise.

Add in the signing of Melo to the fact that they don’t have a first-round draft pick next season and you kind of figure that they have to hit homeruns in free agency this and next summer.

New York should be one of the most active teams in free agency over the next two summers. If they aren’t, then you should be worried.
