Paul George, Indiana Pacers
The Indiana Pacers are two years removed from making the Eastern Conference Finals – twice. It’s amazing how one injury could really derail one entire franchise. That’s exactly what happened to the Indiana Pacers.
After losing Paul George for the entire 2014-15 season – yes I know he played six games last season – the Pacers failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010. And if George can’t return to form this season, they’re probably going to miss the playoffs again, despite what acquisitions they made this summer.
It’s going to be interesting to see if George could put his gruesome injury behind him – he showed flashes that he has/can last season. Though, history hasn’t been kind to the Pacers when it comes to injuries. It wasn’t too long ago when Danny Granger, who was an all-star at the time, completely fell off the map due to injury. He went from averaged 20-plus points per game for the Pacers to averaging eight points per game and being traded.
The hope is that won’t be the case for George.
