Preseason Stats: 13 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 block; 54% FG

There’s almost nothing that Karl-Anthony Towns can do to exceed expectations, and that’s certainly going to hurt him at least partially this season. Towns was dubbed as the next Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Anthony Davis – in other words, he was labeled as the “sure thing” in this year’s draft.

And the unanimous No. 1 overall pick has certainly shown those flashes through a few games in preseason. Coupled with Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine, Towns should find his niche as the team’s go-to offensive presence sooner or later (once he fully develops), certainly their go-to man in the post.

Through three preseason games, Towns is averaging 13 points, seven rebounds and one block per game. Most importantly, he’s shooting 54 percent from the field in only 25 minutes per game. Those numbers should go up when he begins to receive extended minutes during the regular season.

So far, so good for the No. 1 overall pick.
