4. Chicago Bulls

There’s always intrigue around a team with a new coach, and this team is no different. I’ve read numerous opinions ranking the Bulls the second best team in the East behind Cleveland, though I think a healthy Heat team can claim that spot. But these are paper expectations. I need to see some action, and the Bulls have plenty of firepower.

  • Jimmy Butler will take yet another step forward this season, Derrick Rose will … well we just never know with him, Pau Gasol should still have enough in the tank to match his stellar production from a season ago, and the X-Factor Nikola Mirotic will provide energy plays and floor spacing. Gone are the Thibodeau days and I expect nothing less than excitement from this team.

    3. Washington Wizards

As a DC native, I’m biased here. Nonetheless, I’m intrigued by this season’s squad. I was sad to see Paul Pierce leave for L.A., but I think this will be a big year for swingman Otto Porter. Fresh off a Shaqtin’ A Fool MVP season, I think Porter is ready to prove everyone wrong.

This is also a contract year for Bradley Beal, so I’m expecting him to play at All-Star, or near All-Star level. John Wall continues to grow as a player and leader, yet he still finds himself slightly outside the Stephen Curry/Chris Paul/Kyrie Irving/Russell Westbrook point guard debates. That ends this season, and in significant fashion. I expect more speed and scoring this season, and scoring is fun.
