9. Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks

Stats: 23 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 23.0 PER

Carmelo Anthony is back and all of a sudden the New York Knicks look like an actual NBA team. It’s amazing what one player can do for an entire franchise. In fairness, it helps with having actual NBA players on the roster too, but there’s no question that Melo significantly improves this team.

If the Knicks make an unexpected run to the playoffs, Melo will definitely be considered for MVP even if he won’t have any real chance at winning it. He’ll get some votes if the Knicks accomplish what many didn’t think they would prior to the season.

And right now, that’s all Melo is on this ranking. Someone that could steal votes if his team makes a run this season. So far, so good.
