8. Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans

Stats: 23 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 19.9 PER

Even though Anthony Davis has gotten off to a rocky start to the 2015-16 season, I couldn’t leave him off this list one week into the year. Especially, when he seemed to be everyone’s favorite to win the NBA MVP award prior to the year.

Davis is averaging the numbers needed by an MVP winner, but not at an efficient rate. In order for him to come away with the award this season, that’s going to have to change. Davis is only shooting 40 percent from the field, which would be his lowest field goal percentage of his career if this early season trend would continue.

The good news however, is that he’s apparently found a three-point shot. Davis is shooting 44 percent on the year from downtown.
