NBA MVP Rankings: The Rise Of Paul George

10 of 11

2. LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

Stats: 27 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 28 PER

LeBron James recently took a shot at his team after losing back-to-back games (against the Bucks and Pistons). Simply put, he doesn’t believe his team has the desire – and fire – that his team should have. They lost the NBA Championship and don’t look nearly as hungry as the Golden State Warriors – who actually won the NBA Championship last season.

He’s right. However, the only thing that they need to get by in the Eastern Conference is an engaged LeBron James – and that’s exactly what they have right now.

That’s why he’s an MVP candidate year in and year out. This dude is often THE team. As long as he’s in his prime, he’ll be in the MVP discussion, especially when he’s literally carrying his team.
