2. Kevin Durant

Stats: 27.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists

Kevin Durant, coming off a season in which he missed the majority of due to injury, is averaging 27.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. His percentages have been even more impressive.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

As noted, Durant is shooting 56 percent on two-point attempts, 44 percent (career-high) on three-point attempts, is on pace to shoot 52 percent (career-high) from the field overall and has an effective field goal percentage of 59 percent (career-high). If Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors weren’t doing historic things right now, the NBA attention would probably be on Durant’s bounce back season.

While many questioned whether Durant would be able to return to his NBA MVP form, he laughs. His play has done all the talking for him, except when he’s defending Kobe Bryant. Durant is very much back and might be the best player in the NBA right now, despite what Curry has done in the last year and a half. If nothing else, Durant is certainly playing like a top-3 player in the NBA again – and after the injury-plauged season from a year ago, it’s time that we stop ignoring what could be the best player in the world.
