10. Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons
Stats: 18.1 points, 16.0 rebounds, 23.35 PER
The Detroit Pistons are actually in playoff contention as of today. They’re even over .500 in January. They haven’t been that good in a while, perhaps since the days of Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton. And while Stan Van Gundy’s arrival could have a lot to their recent resurgence, Andre Drummond‘s development into one of the best centers in the NBA should be credited too.
Drummond is posting career numbers in both points and rebounds and is one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. When he’s on the court, the Pistons often have a weapon that not many other NBA teams possess – a center who can dominate and impact the game on both sides of the ball.
And for them, even in a league that is quickly transitioning to more perimeter-friendly game, it’s worked.
