NBA: 10 Players That Exceeded Expectations In 2015-16

DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors

Stats: 23.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists

Call me naive, but the Toronto Raptors that we’re seeing today is not the same group that lost to the Brooklyn Nets or Washington Wizards in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

They’re tougher, more efficient and even have a bit of a different look – almost, slimmer – to them. One of the biggest reasons why? DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan is having a career year, in a contract year (funny how that works). DeRozan is averaging a career-high 24 points on 44 percent shooting, which is actually his best field goal percentage clip since 2012-13. He’s also shooting the three-ball at a career-high 32 percent.

Speaking of career years…
