NBA: 10 Players That Exceeded Expectations In 2015-16

7 of 11

Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs

Stats: 20.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 47% 3PT, 25.9 PER

Even though we all believed that Kawhi Leonard was a budding star in the NBA, I highly doubt that anyone believed he’d be the San Antonio Spurs best player this season. Not with LaMarcus Aldridge making the move over from the Blazers.

And he has. It’s not even close.

Leonard is averaging a career-high 21 points and seven rebounds on 51 percent from the field and the second-best three-point percentage (47%) in the NBA. To put that in perspective, he shot the three-ball at 35 percent last season. That type of jump is quite unprecedented.

He’s also 6th in the NBA in Player Efficiency Rating.
