Kyle Lowry

After another putrid shooting performance in Game 1, in which he shot 3-13 from the field, Kyle Lowry stayed until the wee hours of the night getting in extra shots at the ACC. Will it help? We shall see. However, Lowry’s recent struggles are not mechanical.

Maybe they’re a little psychological, but I’m pretty sure his elbow injury has more to do with it than he’s willing to admit. And he won’t ever, because he doesn’t want to make excuses. No NBA player does. But the proof is there.

Heading into Game 2, it’s going to be interesting to see if he has a different approach. He was a little passive in Game 2; he only took 13 shots. More than anything though, I believe the adjustment should be an increased number of drives.

If his shot is going down, Lowry needs to do everything he can to get in the lane and get to the free throw line. That’s exactly the adjustment he made against the Pacers in Game 2, after dropping Game 1. His stat line that game: 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. He went 10-10 from the free throw line.

You got to expect Lowry to bounce back when his team needs him most.
