The Charlotte Hornets need help along the frontline, especially if Al Jefferson elects to not to return to Charlotte this summer. However, without a sure fire pick remaining on the board, it would makes sense for Charlotte to take a shot here.
It wouldn’t hurt, so the Hornets take Thon Maker. As one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft, Maker has all the potential to be a really good player in the NBA. He’s just raw. Really raw. He isn’t going to be a factor next season – or even in the one after that.
Drafting Maker, especially in the first round, means that you’re investing at least a few years in him. That’s what the Hornets need to do. If it works out, Maker could be one of the best players to come out of this draft. His ceiling is arguably higher than some in the top 10.
