Cleveland Cavaliers

Notable Additions: Mike Dunleavy (via trade)

Free Agency Grade: B

In essence, because they were handcuffed due to their through the roof payroll, the Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t have much wiggle room in free agency. They’re expected to re-sign LeBron James, (probably) J.R. Smith and just finalized a new deal for Richard Jefferson.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Cavs did manage to add Mike Dunleavy via trade – ironically one that helped get LeBron’s friend Dwyane Wade to the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs did all they could in the circumstance they were put it. You can’t really fault them for that, even though they didn’t land any of the big name free agents.

Assuming LeBron and Smith re-sign, the Cavs should be in a good position heading into next season. Then again, any team with LeBron will be.
