Ricky Rubio, Minnesota Timberwolves

A few years ago, before Ricky Rubio came to the NBA from overseas, I remember telling a buddy of mine to remember the name “Ricky Rubio”. Years later, Rubio still hasn’t justified the advice I gave to my buddy.

As Rubio prepares to enter the sixth year of his career, we still don’t know how good he can be. Has he gotten better since his rookie season? Absolutely. Has he become the player that many – including myself – expected him to be? Absolutely not. That doesn’t mean he won’t, though.

Rubio needs to prove that he can be the special ingredient to this potential-filled Timberwolves team. Minnesota is loaded with young talent. They just need one of their older, more experience players to lead the way. Rubio needs to be that guy this season.
