NBA Schedule Release: Eight Games That Are Must-See
KD’s Return To OKC
Golden State Warriors @ Oklahoma City Thunder – Feb. 11th
Remember how it felt when LeBron James returned to Cleveland in 2010, after bolting for Miami? Well, I’m not sure it will be THAT bad but it will be bad. Even though Kevin Durant is not the hometown kid, he kind of grew into that role as the team moved from Seattle to OKC.
Maturing from a lanky, talented 6-foot-9 freak in his early days to one of the best players in the NBA today, Durant was OKC’s. Not anymore.
Taking his talents to Golden State not only hurt OKC in the traditional way, but it adds injury to insult. After all, Durant joined the team that OKC was one win away from eliminating in the Western Conference Finals. They were up 3-1 in the series. Blew it, and Durant essentially says “if you can’t beat them, join them”.
This game will have the feel of a playoff game. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see Russell Westbrook take on the world?
