NBA Rumors: The Miami Heat and LA Clippers are reportedly interested in signing Carlos Boozer, who is currently playing in China
Carlos Boozer, who last played in the NBA a couple years ago, could be on the verge of making his way back to the Association.
Boozer is 35 years old and well past his prime. Although, he is currently impressing in China. Boozer is averaging 17.2 points and 10.6 rebounds on 54 percent shooting from the field per game with the Guangdong Southern Tigers.
ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that two teams interested in the possibility of signing Boozer for a playoff push are the LA Clippers and Miami Heat.

"[via ESPN]Carlos Boozer, meanwhile, remains in China but has also played his way back onto the NBA’s radar, having helped the Guangdong Southern Tigers, along with veteran guard Donald Sloan, advance to within one game of the Chinese Basketball Association finals. One source plugged firmly into the Chinese scene says that the Miami Heat and the aforementioned Clippers are among the teams tracking the 34-year-old’s progress with Guangdong."
However, as Stein notes in this report, Boozer would have to sign with a team before April 12 in order to be playoff eligible.
If his Guangdong Southern Tigers continue to advance in the Chinese playoffs, he might lose his chance at making the move to the NBA this season.
The Miami Heat clearly lack a true power forward on the roster. Luke Babbitt is currently starting for the surging Heat, while James Johnson acts as the team’s backup off the bench. Boozer would give this team some added depth along their frontline, even if Boozer doesn’t contribute much.
LA could also use some solidifying along the frontline. And, as is his MO, Doc Rivers can’t help but sign aging veterans.
