NBA Rumors: Blake Griffin is reportedly more open to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics as free agency looms
The LA Clippers, who could fall as far as the 6th seed by the end of the season, will not have homecourt advantage in the playoffs and are likely looking at a back-to-back first-round postseason exits.
With 75 percent of their Big Four hitting the open free agent market this summer, that can’t be good – assuming Doc Rivers wants to keep this core intact moving forward.
Interestingly, a couple months ago, it was almost a forgone conclusion that this core would all re-sign with the Clippers. Now, after free-falling down the Western Conference standings, that could be changing.

Specifically, according to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, there’s a growing sense around the NBA that Blake Griffin would be more than open to signing with the Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics, two teams that will have a ton of cap space, this summer.
"[via Bleacher Report]“More and more people” around the NBA believe that Griffin isn’t necessarily a lock to remain with the Clippers in free agency, according to Ding. Griffin’s interests in the entertainment industry make him likely to stick in Los Angeles, but Ding suggests that the star forward may be open to considering the Celtics or even the Lakers."
Griffin is in the midst of the prime of his career and needs to make a decision, one that will likely dictate arguably the most important part of his career. He needs to decide if remaining with the Clippers, a team that might’ve already hit its ceiling, is something he really wants to do.
Or, Blake could sign with an up-and-coming Lakers team that is loaded with young talent (and assets) and a ton of cap space. He could also join a Celtics team that might be a piece away from contending in the Eastern Conference.

Either way, Blake Griffin’s decision could go a long way in helping the Clippers determine whether it’s time to blow it all up or not. If Griffin signs elsewhere this summer, is it really worth it to sign Chris Paul to a long-term contract?
