Heading into Game 4, down 3-0 to the Cleveland Cavaliers, is this the end of an era for the Indiana Pacers?

Up by as much as 26 points, and by as much as 25 in the second half alone, the Indiana Pacers came crashing down before the final buzzer in Game 3 vs the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the end, it was too much LeBron James (41 points, 13 rebounds, 14 assists) and not enough Paul George as the Cavs took a 3-0 series lead.

Cleveland had an amazing night in Game 3, breaking the record for the largest second half comeback in playoff history, which was pretty much lead by LeBron James, and the bench because Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving only accounted for 13 points apiece.

However, there’s no question that the Pacers blew a golden opportunity. Indiana controlled much of the first three quarters and scored 74 points in the first half. Consistency is what really cost the Pacers in Game 3, which is unfortunate.

Now, facing elimination in Game 4, the end appears near for the Indiana Pacers – and not just the end of the playoffs.

Paul George has been the subject of a handful of rumors over the past few months, and the prevailing thought was that if nothing materialized in this playoffs that George could be on his way out (via trade).

And if George doesn’t force his way out this summer, he could always just walk in free agency next summer. Would the Pacers risk that?

There was a whole lot more than a few playoff victories hanging in the balance over the last few days.

So far, the Pacers have absolutely dropped the ball. If they lose in embarrassing fashion in Game 4 again, Paul George could be dropped next.
