Can LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers save the playoffs with a huge upset in the NBA Finals?

The first three rounds of the NBA playoffs obviously didn’t have much to show. But now, it’s time for the moment we have all been waiting for – the NBA Finals.

Now, we get to see the much anticipated clash between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Could this matchup save the NBA Playoffs? Will it help us forget the snorefest we have endured in the last couple of months?

If the answer to these questions is going to be yes, the NBA can’t afford for the Golden State Warriors to be as dominant as they have been.

If the Warriors run away with this series in four or five games, the NBA playoffs will surely be one to forget.

The fact is that many fans outside of Northern California don’t want to see the Warriors on top.

That would be too easy, too predictable.

The NBA needs LeBron James to save the playoffs. If James and the Cavs can take the Warriors down in an epic 7-game series, that would be the best-case scenario for the NBA and many of its fans.

If the Cavs finish the Warriors even sooner than seven games, that would still be a better finish to the NBA season. At least, this way, we would have some parity in what has otherwise been a predictable season.

The stage is all set for James. This is his time to once again embrace the underdog role, to be more dominant than ever.

If he fails at this stage, he not only damages his legacy, but also disappoints the NBA and many of its fans.

As it is, Michael Jordan has an edge on James because he never lost in the Finals. Another LeBron “choke” in the Finals could mean that any talk of James vs. Jordan will forever be irrelevant.

That’s bad for the NBA, which needs us to continue talking about who is the greatest player ever.

With Curry making a splash in the last couple of years, plus James Harden and Russell Westbrook leading the MVP discussion this season, James has taken a backseat as the face of the league.

It’s almost as if people have forgotten that the Cavs are the defending champs.

It’s up to LeBron James and the Cavs to silence the doubters and save the NBA Playoffs.

No pressure, right?
