2017 NBA Draft Rumors: Lakers eyeing Josh Jackson, De’Aaron Fox; Not Lonzo Ball?
NBA Draft Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly eyeing the prospects of drafting Josh Jackson and De’Aaron Fox, not Lonzo Ball?
There aren’t plenty of certainties ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft, but Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball, since the NBA Lottery set the draft order, seemed to be as sure as it gets at going 1 and 2 in this month’s draft.
However, perhaps Ball isn’t a safe bet to be drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick after all.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, there’s growing belief that the Lakers are leaning towards drafting Josh Jackson or De’Aaron Fox over Lonzo Ball. And that Ball needs to have a workout to remember in order to jump both of them.

"[via Basketball Insiders]With reports surfacing that the LA Lakers and former UCLA guard Lonzo Ball have finalized the details of a workout and face to face meeting in LA next week, there is a growing sense that unless Lonzo absolutely blows the doors off, he may not be the Lakers’ guy.The Lakers are weeks away from needing to make their final decision, but there are many that believe the Lakers could go after both Kansas forward Josh Jackson and Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox (who made my Mock at 2 this week) with the second overall pick."
Though, it should be mentioned that in the weeks leading up to the NBA Draft, there’s an awful lot of smoke thrown around in order to throw prospects or other teams off. Though, with the second overall pick in the draft, this usually isn’t general practice for teams pick this high in the draft.
The Los Angeles Lakers, with the second pick, will pretty much dictate the rest of the top 10 – assuming that the Boston Celtics don’t get cute.

Whether it’s Jackson, Fox or Ball, the Lakers will get a really good prospect. However, it still would be surprising to see the pick not be Ball.
