2. Boston Celtics (via Lakers) – Josh Jackson, F, Kansas

After trading down one spot, the Celtics select Josh Jackson from Kansas. Some quick briefings about the trade first.

The deal was a no brainer for Boston. In the result of trading down only 1 slot, they obtained Julius Randle, a solid rebounder and post presence at the 4 position, and another first round pick (28th) in return for throwing in Terry Rozier. The Celtics get better immediately because of Randle and the No. 2 pick.

The reason for taking Josh Jackson was simple. Jaylen Brown is looking more so of a 2, and Jackson is a bonafide 3. Josh also has good defensive technique, a great fisher and is a solid shooter. Shooting is definitely something he needs to work on, but as we saw with Jaylen Brown, it can be tweaked. Jackson was easily the best player available after the Lakers took Fultz, and he also filled a need of Boston’s.
