NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks are not ruling out the possibility of trading Kristaps Porzingis; multiple teams are interested
As Phil Jackson alienates and desperately tries to trade away the New York Knicks’ franchise player, Carmelo Anthony, it appears he’s also ticked off Kristaps Porzingis.
It was reported just after the NBA season that Porzingis skipped his exit meeting with the Knicks. He never said he wanted out of New York, and it’s been reported that he actually wants to remain a Knick (as long as the team prioritizes winning).
However, Phil Jackson may have other plans. According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Jackson “isn’t ruling out” a potential trade of Kristaps Porzingis. That has prompted growing interest from multiple teams on potentially striking a deal with the Knicks.

"[via The Vertical]Sources: As teams become aware Phil Jackson isn’t ruling out possibility of trading Kristaps Porzingis, frenzy of interest is growing today.Sources: Phil Jackson met with Lauri Markkanen in New York on Monday, a player whom he’s considering at No. 8 should Knicks move Porzingis."
It’s not exactly clear why Phil would moving Porzingis, unless of course he’s made it clear that the recent events have turned him off from wanting to be a Knick. And that wouldn’t exactly be out of the realm of possibility.
Porzingis doesn’t seem like the type of player to announce his grievances to the media. So, in essence, he could’ve allowed his agent to do the work here and let Jackson know, in a professional manner, that his client would like a trade.
Either way, the timing of this all is somewhat confusing.
