NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony is reportedly open to waiving his no-trade clause for the Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers
With Phil Jackson gone, the chance of the New York Knicks buying out Carmelo Anthony from the final two years of his contract went down significantly.
However, Melo is still determined to find his way out of the Big Apple.
According to ESPN, Anthony is now open to waiving his no-trade clause for the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers β he was also open to a move to LA, but with Chris Paul gone that seems unlikely at this point.

"[via ESPN]Carmelo Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star, is open to waiving his no-trade clause to join the Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers should those teams create a pathway to a deal with the New York Knicks, league sources told ESPN.Houston has been proactive in pursuing possible trade scenarios for Anthony lately, though its discussions around the league have yet to gain traction on a deal, league sources said."
After trading for Chris Paul, it was reported that Daryl Morey and the Houston Rockets were eyeing a second move. However, with Paul Millsap and Paul George, both potential targets, off the market, perhaps adding a player like Carmelo Anthony might be their last shot at a big move.
Problem is, finding assets that the Knicks want could prove to be difficult.
As for Cleveland, a trade for Melo always made sense. And that would likely mean Kevin Love would find his way to New York, or a third team. Itβs not exactly known what the Knicks would want in a potential trade of Carmelo Anthony, but a draft pick or a young asset would go a long way in getting a deal done.
