NBA Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers close to signing Derrick Rose?
The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t made many moves thus far in free agency. Apart from re-signing their own, the only outside moves that the Cavs have made is inking Jose Calderon and Jeff Green. Neither of which would move the dial much, especially not against competition like the Golden State Warriors.
However, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs are in “serious talks” to bring in a former NBA MVP Derrick Rose.
Per Woj, if such deal would go down, it would be a one-year deal and could cost the Cavs upwards of $14.1 million because Cleveland is currently in the luxury tax.

"[via ESPN]Free-agent point guard Derrick Rose is in serious talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the defending Eastern Conference champions on a one-year contract, sources told ESPN on Thursday."
In addition to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Derrick Rose also recently spoke with the LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks about a potential landing spot earlier this week. However, the Cavs would give Rose an opportunity to play for a real contender – something he hasn’t been able to do since his NBA MVP season.
Last season with the New York Knicks, Rose averaged 18 points and four rebounds and assists on 47 percent shooting from the field. Perhaps the biggest issue for this hypothetical pairing, if it comes to fruition, is the fact that Rose is a terrible three-point shooter historically.
For his career, he’s a 30 percent shooter from distance. Last season, he shot 22 percent. Why is that important? Well, it’s simple. LeBron feasts with shooters around him.
Having Rose flank LeBron wouldn’t exactly make the most sense, considering that Rose would likely need to be a paint attacker in order to be effective.

Although, having Rose attack relentlessly off the bench when, say LeBron is resting, is exactly what this team needed last season. With that said, LeBron and Rose on the court together would be an odd pairing.
