How the season will end

The Atlanta Hawks are a team that is rebuilding. It is amazing how many things in this organization have changed since they won 60 games in 2014-15. They have lost some of their identity and this year is about learning and preparing for the future.

With Budenholzer still at the helm, I expect this to be a top-10 defense in the league. They have solid defensive talent and they are going to play hard every night. They will frustrate good teams and pick up some ugly wins that are unexpected.

On offense, however, it is going to be rough. Even with Paul Millsap on the team last year, they were a bottom-5 offense. This year is going to be even worse. They will be competing with the Bulls all season long to see who has the worst offense in the league.

I do like some of the Hawks’ pieces, and I believe this year is going to be about growth. The goal for this team should be to develop their young players while also securing a top-5 pick that can be used to select a franchise player in next year’s draft.

This team is not going to be very good but they will pick up some extra wins because of Mike Budenholzer and his system.
