Los Angeles Lakers

Even though the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t exactly back to where they’d like to be – LA’s probably closer to winning the NBA Draft lottery than winning an NBA Championship anytime soon – they are still arguably going to be one of the most interesting storylines of the league this year.

To get a greater grasp on what’s going on in LA, we brought in Nick Ziegler of Lake Show Life for a bit more insight.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Will Lonzo Ball be the biggest producer on the Lakers this season?

There is certainly a lot of hype surrounding Lonzo Ball coming into his rookie season, but he is a rookie. Very rarely will a rookie be the biggest producer on the team, and it would be hard to expect that from Ball. With the addition of Brook Lopez in the offseason, he should be their best player in the 2017-18 season.

In addition to Lopez, young players like Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram are more experienced in the NBA than Ball and are looking to take a step forward. While Ball might be the Rookie of the Year, he won’t be the top producer on the team this season.

Is Kyle Kuzma the real deal, how the hell did he fall to LA, and should he start over Brandon Ingram?

Through the Summer League and the preseason, Kyle Kuzma certainly looks like the real deal for the Lakers. He has shown an ability to score from anywhere on the floor, and that scoring ability will certainly get him minutes right away in the NBA. The Lakers were very high on Kuzma as a draft prospect, and credit has to go to their scouts.

Kuzma looks like he can play both forward positions in the NBA, and that is extremely important in the league nowadays. Despite his early success, Kuzma should start the season on the bench. With his ability to score, he should provide a nice offensive boost for the second unit.

How big of a storyline will LaVar Ball be over the course of the season?

It might be strange to say, but I don’t believe that LaVar Ball will be a big factor this season. While there will likely be some entertaining quotes here and there, LaVar now seems focused on helping his youngest son reach the NBA.

By LaVar Ball standards, I’m expecting a somewhat quiet season from him.
