Milwaukee Bucks: Greg Monroe to miss 2 weeks with injury
Milwaukee Bucks big man Greg Monroe is expected to miss at least two weeks with a calf strain
After gutting it out and playing through injury, the Milwaukee Bucks have elected to shut down Greg Monroe for at least two weeks. The Bucks big man has been battling a calf strain as of late. He aggravated the injury in the team’s Thursday night loss against the Boston Celtics.
Through the first couple weeks of the 2017-18 NBA season, Monroe has averaged a career-low 6.8 points and five rebounds per game in a little over 15 minutes per game off the bench.
Monroe is also shooting a career-low 48 percent shooting from the field.

Despite the slow start to the season, Monroe played a pretty important role for the Bucks last season in the playoffs, where he averaged 13 points and seven rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Still, this shouldn’t be a huge loss for the Bucks.
"[via ESPN]Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe is expected to miss at least two weeks because of a left calf strain.…Kidd told reporters that John Henson, Thon Maker and rookie D.J. Wilson would see increased playing time during Monroe’s absence. Kidd also indicated that versatile star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo could play some center for the Bucks."
As Kidd told reporters, the Bucks will rely on John Henson, second-year center Thon Maker and perhaps even rookie D.J. Wilson to help carry the void left by Monroe.
But, again, allocating the 15 minutes and six points per game that Monroe has been producing this season shouldn’t be all that difficult.
The Milwaukee Bucks have raced off to a 4-2 start this season, with the two losses coming at the hands of the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers. Although, the team has an interesting matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder coming up Tuesday.

It’ll be an interesting measuring stick game for a team that seems to be getting better and better every single game, specifically Giannis Antetokounmpo who is averaging an unbelievable 35 points, 11 rebounds and five assists per game. His lowest scoring output of the season was a 28-point night. To say Giannis has been impressive would be an understatement. He’s arguably been the best player in the sport this season.
