The Pistons’ interesting place in history against all-time greats

Let’s just go ahead and get this FACT out of the way: LeBron James is one of the greatest players to play in the NBA and deserves to be in conversations alongside Michael Jordan. So there.

Now, LeBron recently said that the Detroit Pistons of the early to mid 2000’s really helped to shape the player LeBron is today. He spent many years early in his career trying to take down the Pistons, and it just was a bad time.

Looking back, it was the Detroit Pistons who also gave Michael Jordan a hard time early in his career. Before he decimated the league in the 90’s, he couldn’t get past the Pistons in the 80’s.

The Pistons, when at the top, end up driving an all time great. So, it’s simple. We need the Detroit Pistons to be elite again. Cool? Cool. Considering the Pistons are one of the oldest teams in league history, I’m sure there have been other players who have had to overcome elite Pistons teams. I should probably do some research on that.
