NBA Trade Rumors: The Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly eyeing the possibility of trading for George Hill ahead of next month’s trade deadline

Losers of nine of their last 13 games, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be active in the week’s leading up to the NBA trade deadline. Question is, who could the Cavs target that would make a significant impact?

That’s a difficult question to answer, considering the big-time players that could make such an impact aren’t currently on the trade block. One player that is, and one that is reportedly drawing interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers, is George Hill.

According to Yahoo’s Shams Charania, the Cavs are interested in the veteran guard.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"[via Yahoo]In an effort to bolster their backcourt situation, the Cleveland Cavaliers are expressing interest in a trade for Sacramento Kings guard George Hill, league sources told Yahoo Sports.Cleveland has emerged as an interested suitor, with the Cavaliers pursuing Hill to potentially slide into a dual-guard role, starting at either backcourt position or playing as a reserve, league sources said."

Hill is the type of player that fits right in next to LeBron. He’s the type of player that doesn’t necessarily need the ball in his hands to be effective, and he’s a pretty good spot up shooter. Hill is shooting 45 percent from 3-point range this season.

Even though Hill isn’t haven’t the most productive season this year in Sacramento, Hill is coming off arguably the best season of his career. Last season with the Utah Jazz, Hill averaged 17 points and four assists per game on 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

Of course, the big issue with the Cavs is that their backcourt is already pretty crowded. Depending on who they’d have to deal in exchange for Hill, the Cavs already have Derrick Rose (assuming he remains healthy), Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade and J.R. Smith getting backcourt minutes.

While adding a player like Hill would no question help the team, it’d be interesting to see how Ty Lue would adjust his rotation.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to be one of the most active teams in the coming weeks. Their name will pop up a lot. We’re just getting started here.
