Jarred Vanderbilt is back

Jarred Vanderbilt played his first minutes for Kentucky against South Carolina, and has played three total games so far for the Wildcats. In those three games Vanderbilt hasn’t gotten many minutes because he is not in game shape just yet.

However, Vanderbilt’s motor, rebounding, and ball handling have all really stood out. Even though Vanderbilt isn’t ready for prime minutes yet, when he plays, he plays hard. He’s flies around on the defensive end and runs the floor very well.

His rebounding has also been impressive which is a product of his motor and athleticism. Averaging six rebounds in only twelve minutes a game in his three games. His defensive rebounding in particular translates to his ball handling ability. Vanderbilt could be one of the best grab and go big men in his class.

In his first game back against South Carolina with Quade Green out, Vanderbilt came in and ran the backup point guard. He used his impressive ball handling ability to get in the lane against South Carolina guards defending him. The only thing keeping Vanderbilt out of the first round right now is his limited sample size, and seeing how he will produce once his minutes go up.
