New additions at the bottom

Two new players have cracked the bottom of the top 60 big board. The first is Kenny Wooten, the freshman rim protector from Oregon. Wooten is leading the Pac-12 in blocks at 2.8 per game. Wooten’s incredible leaping ability along with his long arms make him an exquisite shot blocker. His 6-foot-9 thin frame could be a question, but it could be an advantage with the speed and promise he can show guarding on the perimeter and protecting the rim in the modern NBA game.

The second is Kevin Huerter, the wing shooter from Maryland. Huerter is knocking down 47 percent of his 3-pointers this year and has shown way beyond NBA range. He’s has great size for an NBA wing at 6-foot-7. He will be a huge defensive liability at the next level, but if he can knockdown NBA threes at a 45 percent clip Huerter will see NBA minutes no matter what.

One of the things that has really stood out about Kevin Huerter lately has been his ability as a passer. Even though his assist numbers aren’t crazy he has a very unique skill of being able to find open teammates running off screens. Since Huerter is such a high level shooter when he runs off of off ball screens the defense keys on him. He uses this advantage to find open teammates when defenders are focusing on his shot.
