NBA: New starts in not-so-new places for 4 relocated players

When Dwyane Wade signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on September 26th, 2017 on a one year, $2.3 million dollar deal after getting bought out by the Chicago Bulls, NBA fans rejoiced! There was no Bosh this time around, but Cleveland had Kevin Love and LeBron. No one thought that it made Cleveland instant contenders, but it would at least hopefully offset the Kyrie-sized void in Cleveland’s offense until prized trade acquisition Isaiah Thomas returned from his hip surgery.
Fast forward five months, and Wade is back to where it all started – Miami.
Wade averaged 11.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 3.5 APG during his short stint in the Land – not bad numbers considering he only averaged 22.0 MPG for the Cavaliers; and only made three starts in 46 games. His eFG% was 48.2%, and ironically shot a career high percentage from beyond the arc – albeit 32.9%.
As much success as Wade had with Banana Boat Buddy ‘Bron, a report was released that James would often find Wade checking Heat scores in the Cavs locker room. Even though it was cool (really weird and wasted years of his career) to see Wade play for his hometown Chicago Bulls for a few years with Pau Gasol (also wasted years of his career), it’s nice to see his heart was always in the right place – home.
