Like Son, Like Father
7,257 points. 1,087 blocks. 1,145 assists. 356 steals. 433 games. What a career for Larry Nance…. Sr.
While it hasn’t been completely glossed over, Larry Nance Jr. was traded to the Cavs, a franchise where his father had great success despite battling a bevy of injuries. While Nance Jr. has dealt with injuries of his own, he will hope to invigorate a franchise that is facing uncertainty in the long-term, very similar to when his father came to the Land.
Earlier today as I was watching the Cavs demolish my beloved Celtics, Jeff Van Gundy, Mike Breen, and Mark Jackson were talking about how Nance Jr. didn’t choose to wear his dad’s number. Van Gundy thinks he should have, but Breen quickly responded by saying that when asked about that specific topic, Nance Jr. said that that was ‘his dad’s accomplishment’ and that he ‘didn’t want to take away from that.’ Personally, I think that’s awesome.

Now, will Nance make major contributions on the Cavs? Probably not, he will probably come off the bench for the rest of the season… but will be a full-time starter when Kevin Love gets traded to the Wizards in the offseason for Markieff Morris and Marcin Gortat, as Washington tries to make a last ditch effort to build their own Big 3.
