2018 NBA Draft: Every lottery team’s dream first-round selection

2. Phoenix Suns

Biggest Team Need: PG

Dream Selection: Trae Young, PG

You could go two ways for the Phoenix Suns here, but in the end I went with the point guard position as the biggest team need. In an NBA that is quickly transitioning to a guard-heavy league, I felt like adding a player like Trae Young, if he can hit his ceiling, would be more valuable than adding a center.

Just look at all the best teams in today’s game. Very few of them, if any, have their best player as the big man.

The Suns have a nice young core in Devin Booker and Josh Jackson. Adding a player like Young could give this team an intriguing young trio moving forward.
