Ball Screen Play

Luka Doncic also works off several ball screens a game in his high usage role with Real Madrid. He takes advantage of these opportunities both as a playmaker and a scorer. Above, Luka Doncic works off a slip screen against Fenerbache Dogus Istanbul.

Doncic sees Brad Wannamaker playing in help side defense on the open roll man. Doncic looks to his teammate Jeff Taylor in the corner just long enough to freeze the help side defender and makes a great pass to set up his big man for an easy bucket.

This next clip of Doncic working out of the pick and roll is from Eurobasket 2017. This is a FIBA or international event that many high-level NBA players like Goran Dragic, Kristaps Porzingis, and Evan Fournier participated in.

His performance during Eurobasket in the offseason was what really made Doncic the clear, early season favorite for the number one pick. Doncic had a lane to drive once he came off the screen, but he stayed patient, made a beautiful ball fake, and bounce pass to find the roll man.
