Kevin Durant’s career night put the Golden State Warriors up 3-0 in the NBA Finals. Should anyone be happy about this?

Has anyone pondered the thought that this team might be unbeatable in a seven-game series? Yeah, yeah I know the Houston Rockets blew it last round but the Golden State Warriors still won and moved on.

In a game where the Cavs “held” (mostly just him missing) two-time MVP in Steph Curry to 3-16 shooting, including 1-10 from 3 (In true Steph fashion, the only one he ended up making was an absolute dagger) and only allowed Klay Thompson to shoot 36 percent from the field, the Warriors still ended up winning by eight.

How is this possible you might be wondering? Well when you have a seven-foot, former MVP three guard who might be the most impossible person to guard in NBA history, that does tend to help.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Kevin Durant turned in one of the best NBA Finals performances of all time last night. Going for 43 pts, 13 rebounds and seven assists on 65 percent shooting. I’m honestly surprised he missed eight shots because the way he was flowing it seemed like he actually could not miss.

Post-up’s, pull-up’s, at the rim, behind the arc, runners, free-throws and everything in between. He was like DJ Premier with a beatpad; technical, precise but stayed within his game and did all the right things.

Granted, the Cavaliers defense had more holes in it last night than a Williamsburg resident’s jean’s, but they did all the wrong things when guarding Durant.

Instead of playing Lebron on him, really their only hope, the Warriors forced switches of George Hill, Kevin Love or J.R. Smith onto KD and he just ate them alive. Taking advantage of size and length, he either got by everyone or shot over everyone. It was a truly unfair performance by one of the greatest players of all time.

This was the first game, maybe all playoffs, that the Cavaliers really didn’t beat themselves. They got fantastic minutes from Rodney Hood, JR was surprisingly hitting shots, Love had his third straight 20 and 10 game and yet it was all for nothing. Just as Lebron has been doing all playoffs, a single player beat a team. This time it was KD.

KD turning in this performance last night was equal parts infuriating and fascinating. Its really cool to see a guy, who probably should be a center, making everything but it’s maddening because of who he plays for. The fact that the Warriors, after a 73 win season, needed to go get the second best player in the league just to beat one man is definitely frustrating for 98% of most NBA fans.

Unless you are a bandwagon Warriors fan (all of you) no one should be particularly happy about this game. If your second and third best players go a combined 7-26 shooting and you still win by eight?! There’s something almost unfair about this. You can rehash bad old memories of KD’s move to this team, but the fact of that matter is, the rest of the NBA has some catching up to do and should plan accordingly.

Does this mean a move to an actual contender for Lebron? Does this mean putting the other 20 all-stars, not on the Warriors, on one team? Who knows but I need another beer.
