2018 NBA Power Rankings: The Warriors win the offseason; Lakers are back

15. Indiana Pacers

I had a hard time ranking the Indiana Pacers because I’m not sure what to make of them heading into the 2018-19 NBA season. On one hand, they were extremely impressive last season in taking the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games.

Perhaps they build upon that success, sneaking into the top 4 of the Eastern Conference and potentially making a run to the Eastern Conference Finals. On the other hand, I also wouldn’t be surprised if they took a step back this season.

The emergence of Victor Oladipo was a great story. However, I’m not sure if they’ll be able to live up to high expectations this season. Even though the East altogether took a step back, there are a number of teams that could be better this year.
