TIER 3: PAINFULLY MEDIOCRE

Wizards, Heat, Pistons, Hornets

Since the only thing bringing these four teams together is sheer mediocrity, let’s play GM and spice up their rosters, Jimmy Butler style (unfortunately, the ESPN trade machine doesn’t let me internally link any trades, so you’ll have to take my word the salaries balance on each one):

Jimmy Butler Trade Scenario #1

Wizards receive: Jimmy Butler

Timberwolves receive: Austin Rivers, Markieff Morris, Kelly Oubre Jr., 2019 1st round pick

Jimmy Butler Trade Scenario #2

Heat receive: Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson

Timberwolves receive: Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, 2019 1st round pick

Jimmy Butler Trade Scenario #3

Pistons receive: Jimmy Butler

Timberwolves receive: Reggie Bullock, Langston Gallaway, Luke Kennard, Stanley Johnson, 2019 1st round pick

Jimmy Butler Trade Scenario #4

Hornets receive: Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson

Timberwolves receive: Marvin Williams, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jeremy Lamb, 2020 1st round pick

Of the four, scenarios 2 and 4 seem most likely, if for no other reason than Scott Layden getting to dump an extra ’11 Bull.

Butler will probably be a Laker by January.
