NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks interested in Jabari Parker?
NBA Trade Rumors: The New York Knicks are another team reportedly interested in acquiring Jabari Parker
The Chicago Bulls are reportedly actively shopping Jabari Parker, who fell out of the teams rotation last week and hasn’t played a minute for the team since then, but there has been not much reported since then.
It was reported a few days ago that the Utah Jazz were one team that were expressing interest in the idea of trading for Parker. However, nothing has surfaced since that initial report, and Utah would rather wait until the new calendar year to pull off such a deal because a few of the names mentioned in a possible package can’t be moved until then.
While there are reportedly a few other teams expressing interest, we really haven’t seen any real concrete teams connected to such reports other than the Jazz. However, now, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley, the New York Knicks could be another team interested. As long as they don’t have to trade one of their future first-round picks.
And it falls in line with everything we’ve been hearing on the part of the Knicks. That’s another reason why they weren’t really in on the Jimmy Butler talks earlier this season, because they wanted to keep as many assets at their disposal as possible – probably for a bigger and better name that could possibly hit the trade block soon.
Parker doesn’t exactly fit the mold as a bigger and better name. Even though Parker is a former No. 2 overall pick (2014 NBA Draft), he’s been everything but that through his first few seasons in the NBA.
While he has flashed his potential at multiple times during his young career, injuries and shortcomings, especially on the defensive end, in his game have really kept him from blossoming into a household star in the NBA.
With that said, at the ripe age of 23, it’s not surprising to see teams like the Knicks (who don’t have much to lose, especially if it doesn’t cost them a future first-round pick) to test the waters on a potential deal.
Jabari Parker simply didn’t work in Chicago, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be successful with a different regime and in a different system. Perhaps the Knicks could be that place.
