2. Phoenix Suns – Ja Morant, G, Murray State
In his second season with the Murray State Racers, Ja Morant has bursted onto the NBA Draft scene with a force that perhaps no one could’ve seen coming. In his sophomore season, Morant is averaging 25 points, 10 assists and nearly six rebounds per game.
He’s filling up the stat sheet on a night to night basis, and is proving to fit the mold of the new NBA guard. While his 3-point shot is still very much a work in progress (33% on 4.8 attempts per game), his athleticism is something that jumps off the screen when you watch him play.
For a team like the Phoenix Suns that is in dire need of a lead guard, Morant is almost the perfect fit at No. 2. There could be some pushback, especially if RJ Barrett impresses through pre-draft workouts, but the Suns could have quite the dynamic duo in Morant, Devin Booker and Deander Ayton heading into next season with this pick.
