Taking a closer look at five potential head coaching candidates for the Los Angeles Lakers that are better than the names that have been rumored thus far
In respect to Luke Walton, it should be noted that he’s still the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. And hopefully, he gets another year to redeem himself after a rough first season with LeBron James
With that said, there have been whispers that Walton could be fired after the season and a couple names of his possible replacements have emerged recently.
It was reported a few days ago that Jason Kidd will be a candidate for the Lakers’ head coaching job, should Walton be relieved of his duties. Then, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith added that Ty Lue is another candidate to watch.
However, neither of those two names actually scream perfect fits for the Lakers if they elect to hire a new head coach. In fairness, they likely won’t be the only names that emerge over the next couple of months and won’t be the only real candidates that the front office looks at.
With the assumption that the Lakers will be looking for the best possibly head coaching candidate on the open market, and not just a puppet for LeBron’s camp, here are 5 head coaching candidates (better than Ty Lue and Jason Kidd) that will likely be available this summer.
