If the Lakers want to snag one of the hottest coaches in the college ranks, there’s perhaps no better name out there than John Calipari. However, as we know, he’s denied and denied and denied making the move back to the NBA many times over the last decade.
With that said, if Calipari was waiting for the right opening, this might be it. There might not be a more prestigious job out there than being the head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, and which coach wouldn’t want to coach LeBron? They’d have an almost immediate shot at winning an NBA Finals, assuming the Lakers can hit a home run in free agency this summer.

If Calipari wants to make the move to the NBA, this would be the summer to do it. With that said, perhaps he just doesn’t want to make that pivot. And that’s OK. He’d be a great hire for the Lakers, however.
